Holistic & Comprehensive Childbirth & Parenting Classes-

Holistic meaning: Whole Body

Classes are ideal for 1st time parents, refreshers, VBACs and childbirth professionals seeking further education. Father participation is encouraged and single moms should bring a support person.

My Holistic Classes are based on the philosophy that birth is normal and natural and in most cases needs little if any intervention. However, it does deserve lots of attention and planning for a safe and satisfying experience, no matter where or how you plan on delivering.

Fathers, although often apprehensive at first about the time commitment feel empowered and thankful for the information and confidence they have gained to be able to be active participants at their child's birth as well.

Even if your unsure if a "Natural" birth is right for you, you will appreciate all of the knowledge gained through this course. When we start with this foundation, we are better equipped to make more informed decisions regarding all of our options. The birth statistics in America are unacceptable compared to many other countries and it's time for a reformation of birth.

My comprehensive curriculum differs greatly from a hospital based program. If you decide to take the hospital class I recommend that you supplement your education with my series. I cover healthy pregnancy all the way through healthy parenting and postpartum milestones the first year.

In this course you will learn how to stay optimally healthy and low risk thereby helping to insure you have more options for your birth.

Topics covered:

Pregnancy Nutrition, Exercises and Maternal Comfort, Optimal Fetal Positioning and your Baby's Comfort, Anatomy of our wonderful body, Labor Stages, Emotions, Physiology and Hormones, Relaxation and Comfort Techniques, Evaluating Coping Styles and Your Options, Good Labor Support and your Birth Team, Effective Communication Skills with your partner and birth team, Birth Plans and Goals, Medical Interventions, Unexpected Situations and Back up Plans, Cesarean Surgery, Circumcision, Vaccinations, Biology and Development of the Infant, Postpartum Milestones the first year, Caring for the Postpartum Mom, Developing your Parenting Styles, Baby Wearing and more...tailored to your needs!

Each week we also discuss Breastfeeding: Risks of Formula and Benefits of Breastfeeding, Common Problems and Solutions, and outline the 7 Natural Laws of Successful Breastfeeding from the book "Breastfeeding Made Simple"

Birth & Postpartum Doula Services

Every couple deserves a Doula!

A Doula is a professional, providing an extra pair of attentive eyes, listening ears, helpful hands, and a caring heart-offering priceless gifts of service to new and growing families.

A Doula does not replace the father or anyone else in your birth team but compliments their roles. The presence of a Doula helps to ensure a more intimate and non-intrusive birthing and postpartum environment. A Doula is there to support both of you and act as your pillar of strength and guardian of your special moments during labor and through the postpartum adjustment.

A Doula is an essential part of your birth team! You are encouraged to explore the different roles that a Midwife, Dr., Nurse, Partner, and other family members can provide, as well as the Doula. Be realistic about your expectations for them and how everyone can work together to create your perfect team!

A Doula helps facilitate communication between you and your birth team and family, offering additional perspectives on birth progress and interventions to help you make informed decisions. A Doula helps you and your partner with comfort and coping measures, and helps you reach your goals. Typically, a Doula will meet at least a couple times prenatally to get to know you and help you plan for your birth and postpartum.

The presence of a Doula at a birth while helping moms through their postpartum adjustment has shown wonderful statistics with low medical intervention rates, high birth satisfaction, successful breastfeeding, and recovery.

The Forgotten Trimester-

Postpartum is often a time that is easily overlooked and most families do not understand the major milestones that mother and baby face together, especially the first 6-12 weeks. Virtually no prior preparation goes into making sure meals and household duties get taken care of while mom gets the rest she needs, the emotional support, help with breastfeeding, and infant care. Not to mention, the reassurance that dads and siblings need during this transition. Because of this, postpartum depression is common in our culture yet, virtually non-existent in other cultures where this time of much needed support is valued.

We must remember to celebrate this new mother and emulate the other cultures that honor new mothers by caring for them, supporting them, and placing value on the magnificent transformation she is going through. This is the greatest gift we can give to new mothers and newborns. A Postpartum Doula can help bridge the gap of support for mothers and babies by providing the support and education they need to become confident new mothers.

Postpartum Doulas are specially trained to help guide you through these physical and emotional changes by providing education, support, extra nurturing, comfort measures, coping and transition skills, and newborn care. They also help your partner, siblings and other family members transition through this time too as you develop your own unique parenting style without compromising babies most biological needs!

This also includes help with light housework, tidying, meal prep, errands, sibling care, postpartum fitness instruction, belly binding, physical and emotional tips and comfort measures, etc. all tailored to you per your support system at home. All of this is discussed in more detail during our consult.

Maidens by His Design Course

A course especially for mothers and daughters.

Maidens by His Design is a curriculum by Blessing God's Way Ministry. It is a biblical approach to teaching daughters 8 and up how their bodies are created to function. It's more than a class, it's a  celebration!

Maidenhood is the first major milestone in a girls life as she goes through puberty and starts menstruation, her first signs of entering womanhood.

We know that most moms need support and guidance on how to begin this conversation with their daughters and we're sure you will learn something too. There is a lot of negativity and often embarrassment surrounding these issues but that is not honoring to God.

The course instructs them on how God has fearfully and wonderfully made each one of us, beyond basic biological "facts". This knowledge is essential to understanding the other phases of womanhood.

Some topics covered are:

Basic female reproductive organs and anatomy, hormones, cycle length, history and various cultural information, tools and gear, how to celebrate womanhood in a Godly manner, how to take thoughts captive, how to erase a spirit of fear, how to learn about herbs that are helpful for that time of the month, good nutrition, how to take care of yourself, and more. There is also time for fellowship and fun activities you and your maiden(s) will enjoy.

This course will act as a great starting point for you to further your knowledge on how to care for and respect your body as God's temple, allowing you to look ahead with great anticipation and not fear the other milestones as a woman that awaits you.

This course will be fun and engaging, including resources and ideas inspiring you for further communication and lovely traditions with your maiden(s)!

Investment is a modest fee of $80 for the first daughter. Additional daughters are $65 each. Repeat students with workbooks are $40 each. $40 if you coordinate your own group with at least 8 registered girls.

These prices vary based upon location and structure. Maidens will receive a beautiful workbook and a first menstruation gift kit. Please inquire about scheduling a 1 day workshop, retreat or weekly study group or participating in one already planned.

Blessing God's Way Celebrations

The lost art of celebrating maidenhood and motherhood.

The "Blessingway", originally a navajo tradition filled with mysticism and new age philosophies has been adapted into "A Blessing God's Way" by It is a way for women and families to come together to give honor and glory to God, our Creator for His perfect design of the woman and the fruit of her labor, the blessings of children!  Let me help you top off your birth plans with this special event. Do you have a circle of women? Let's create this support system.

A Birth Blessingway takes place about 36 weeks gestation to prepare you for labor and help you honor these last few weeks.

A Baby Blessingway takes place about 6 weeks postpartum to transition you out of the initial postpartum period of bonding and healing.

Blessing means a short prayer for divine approval. To bless a mother, we are invoking Gods favor upon her for her "way", the journey, through her transitions ahead. Mother's need lots of support and encouragement. There is a lot of negativity and fear surrounding pregnancy, childbirth and children, that is not honoring to God and the main focus is generally on the baby and not the mother infant bond.

A true celebration of pregnancy, childbirth and children is lacking in our culture. Each and every birth, not just the first, deserves recognition and celebration. This celebration allows us to do that in a unique and alternative way other than or in addition to the traditional baby shower.

A Blessing God's Way should be an intimate event shared with your closest family and friends, generally consisting of around 10 women but men and children are welcome according to your desires. I think that it is beautiful to share in this event especially with our daughters.

A Maidens Blessingway is a way for women and their daughters to come together with friends to give honor and glory to God for His perfect design of the woman and to celebrate a young lady's first major milestone. Do you have a circle of women? Let's create this support system.

To bless a young lady, we are invoking God's favor upon her for her "way", the journey, through her transitions ahead as she matures into a woman.

After completing a maiden course, mothers and daughters are more knowledgeable and positive about this special occasion and a Blessing God's Way celebration is the marking of many wonderful traditions ahead as mother and daughter.

A Blessing God's Way should be an intimate event shared with your closest family and friends, consisting of a small group of women and their daughters whom share a respect for this special time.

Ideally this celebration should be planned during her first cycle and occur during the young ladies 2nd cycle so she can be pampered and acknowledged as a new maiden.

At a BlessingGod'sWay, there is generally a fellowship meal, devotion, prayer and positive affirmations, inspirational gifts, activities and keepsakes, and a time of nurturing and adorning for the mother or maiden. You have a variety of beautiful options to choose from some of which can include: Prayer Necklace/bracelet, affirmation banner, stones or candles,  belly painting, henna, foot bath, massage, aromatherapy, nail painting, paraffin hand dip, and more!

Postpartum Belly Binding

Bengkung style!

Bengkung is a traditional Malaysian belly binding method. Essentially it is a practice of tying a long strip of cloth around the abdomen during the postpartum recovery period to ensure a strong support to our womb after childbirth.

Why belly-binding ?

  • It helps to slim the rib cage, belly and hips.
  • Pulls in the separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) back together.
  • Prevents back pain. While wearing it, you are reminded to sit and walk straight, a good antidote to the "nursing-slouch".
  • Decreases postpartum bleeding time by speeding up the process of getting rid of waste blood in a natural way.
  • It's an ancient traditional natural way of healing after birth.
  • It feels good!

What makes a Bengkung different from western postpartum girdles like Belly Bandit?

It's the length. A Bengkung Belly Bind is a long wrap that covers from under the chest all the way down to below the hips. This way, it doesn't just work on the waist, but also helps the rib cage and the hips go back to their former dimensions. It also stays put when you move, and so it doesn't press on the abdomen.

Investment: Fee varies. It can be worked into your postpartum package or you can purchase this service separately for $35. I will come to your home ideally 3 days postpartum for a 1 hour fitness/postpartum consult and teach you how to wrap yourself!
